Bio

I began playing in bands and writing songs in my early teens. In my early 20s I accompanied my dad, Jubal Clark, on his gigs in and around Austin, TX, including shows at the Austin Opry House and a couple of Willie Nelson's Fourth of July Picnics.

In my mid-20s, I relocated to Phoenix, AZ where I mainly played acoustic gigs and continued writing new tunes. Then I moved to Bisbee, AZ. and started a band with new friends called The Arousing, which played all over southern Arizona for several years.

Flagstaff became my new home in 1993. Here, I've played in bands including Backroads, bon fiction, The Prowlers, The Gut Brothers, Trypster, Walter Salas-Humara and El Kamino, and Radio Blazar. I've also sat in on gigs with Tom Freund, Jeff Crosby, and Nolan McKelvey.

After my youngest child departed for college, I set to work on my first solo album (PSYCHE'S PLAYGROUND). Over the next few years, I began to phase out my day job so I could spend more time indulging in all my music interests.

In 2018, I put together a small home studio and started to work on a second solo CD with the help of Walter Salas-Humara, Tim Hogan, and Andrew Grosse. PASSING SLEEPING CITIES was released in 2019.

Aside from the lull during the Covid-related shutdown, my music projects have been thriving over the past few years. I am so thankful for all the support and collaboration available to me in this creative community. Y'all keep me going!

If you would like to keep up with my musical adventure,  you can sign up on my mailing list! I'll keep you informed of upcoming shows, new music, and everything else that's happening on "the playground."

Thanks!

Stan Clark
