Do you ever think about those special moments in your life when some event or some action you took set you on a path toward greater fulfillment and meaning?

My dad took me to see live music when I was a youngster. He also read poetry to me, played rhyming games with me, and wrote down poems I "wrote" before I could write.
Then, when I was 10, I asked him to show me how to play guitar. That was one of my life-changing moments.

I remember lying awake at night  playing "in my mind" - picturing my fingers forming chords on the fret board and humming those first simple songs I was learning. Before long, my childhood buddy, Pete Williams, and I were working up Beatles tunes and sharing what we learned individually to help each other expand our skills.

I began playing in bands and writing songs in my early teens. Even while attending college and graduate school and working for many years as a psychotherapist, I always kept playing, writing, and collaborating. As much as I loved my work in the helping profession, I always yearned to immerse myself more fully in music.

After both of my dear children had embarked on their own life journeys, I set to work on my first solo album (PSYCHE'S PLAYGROUND). Once it was released in 2011 my passion kept gathering momentum until I eventually found myself "graduating" from my first career and immersing myself fully in the world of music! Ahhhhh!

First, I played in a series of fun Flagstaff bands until I was drawn into the orbits of musicians with really similar interests. For the past several years I've been playing with Walter Salas-Humara as a member of his band, El Kamino, on several brief tours each year. I also joined with friends to form local rock band, Radio Blazar. Musicians from both bands contributed to my second solo album (PASSING SLEEPING CITIES) which was recorded and released late in 2019, shortly before the arrival of Covid 19 . Now I am bunkering down with my beloved wife Kathy, working on new guitar techniques and material. No one knows how long it will be before music venues can start safely booking live music again, but I have no doubt that when they do, that’s where you’ll find me!

Please sign up on my mailing list! I'll keep you informed of upcoming shows, new music, and everything else that's happening on "the playground."

Thanks!
